On June 20th, Red Eléctrica published the new electrical access capacities in accordance with the Electricity Planning with a 2026 horizon.

We are in a climate emergency, where the main objective is to be able to integrate as much renewable generation as possible in a reliable and safe way to achieve the energy transition. The purpose of this electricity planning is to deduce the needs of the electricity system to ensure the long-term supply of energy.

Currently, the Spanish electricity system has more than 57% of renewable technologies over the 114,600 MW of installed capacity. The objective is to reach 67% share of renewables in the peninsula’s electricity system by 2026.
