WE ARE INVOLVED IN THE MANAGEMENT OF THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY OF THE “BARCELONA CABLE LANDING STATION,” A NEW STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE DIGITAL SECTOR IN CATALONIA.
AFR-IX telecom inaugurated Sant Adrià del Besòs as the headquarters of the Barcelona Cable Landing Station, the first international submarine cable landing station in Catalonia, where our Iplan team has participated in managing its electrical supply.
Considered “a strategic infrastructure for the digital sector in Catalonia” by the Generalitat, it will be an open port with the expectation of hosting up to eight submarine fiber optic cables that will allow connections from Asia, Africa, and the Mediterranean to be linked to the United States.
It is expected that two cables will be operational before the end of the year, and in July 2024, the third Medusa cable connection, which spans 8,700 kilometers and connects nine countries in Africa and Europe, will arrive.
